"GALACTIC RUNES" by Michael C. Turner

An explosion of light and stellar gases erupt from a nearby pulsar as it interacts with its invisible companion, a black hole, as viewed from within an ancient volcanic caldera on a moon orbiting an Earth-like planet in a remote galaxy. Such astronomical events leave their own "galactic runes" (ancient symbols, writing, glyphs) to be decoded . . .

*Extended, origianl, descriptor Follows:

Orbiting the galactic core of an active quasar galaxy, a bizarre stellar system has formed near a pulsar and its associated "black-hole." Viewed from within an ancient volcanic caldera/crater on the surface of a moon orbiting a terrestrial class planet, similar to Earth, a black-hole/pulsar appears as a brilliant jetting stellar entity. Like ancient runes (ancient writings/symbols) black holes await some galactic interpreter to bring new light to their meaning and origins. Above the depicted foreground moon's horizon, an irregular ring of lunar debris from the collision of two smaller satellite moons and cometoid bodies partially eclipses the parent planet and another companion satellite moon. Several other stellar companions appear near the primary pulsar star. Perhaps they too contain "runes" of both stellar and sentient creation. Galactic and intergalactic travelers will encounter this and even more bizarre, yet beautiful, cosmic phenomena.

("Galactic Runes" is #5 in my Christmas in the Stars limited edition card series. [link] Each year I select one of my paintings to use on the cover of my "Christmas in the Stars" Christmas Card series which I began in 1991. I realize that everyone may not appreciate space art in this context however, I trust you shall still enjoy the paintings for what they depict scientifically if not spiritually . . . )

Your work is truly Chesley Bonestell style! It whisks me off into the exotic cosmos. Music that would go beautifully with your works would be by Vangelis.
